Bert is back!!

Bert is BACK!
He’s been very busy
Seeing many new things
Enough to make him dizzy!

Bert’s next adventure
Involves cruising on a ship
Down to Hampton Court Palace
For a fun day trip!

Across the River Thames
Bert begins to float
Enjoying the sights of London
As he passes by in the boat

On a boat to Hampton Court Palace

Arriving at the Palace
It’s quite a lovely sight
With it’s red stone design
And statues carved in white

The Order of St. John of Jerusalem
Were the original creator
Then Archbishop Thomas Wolsey
Took over a little bit later

In 1514
King Henry the eighth
Gave the palace to Thomas
To reward his loyalty & faith

From there the palace expanded
Until Thomas fell out of favor
Then it passed back to the King
Who changed it to match his flavor

Many years of construction
Was done by different folk
Leaving two architectural styles
Of Domestic Tudor and Baroque

Let's head inside

Now you can visit
And walk through the Palace
Go into the Great Hall
Where you can lift a chalice

The Great Hall is massive
With it’s hammer-beam ceiling
And walls covered in tapestries
That convey an incredible feeling

Next venture to the kitchens
Which are the largest Bert’s ever seen!
They fed over a thousand
From the court of the King & Queen

Outside the kitchen where they would bring in foods

Bert feels so lucky
Each and every day
To go on these adventures
From near to far far away

Life is very fragile
We’re here only a short while
So venture out to see the world!
And don’t forget to smile
