Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol
Is next on Bert’s list
It’s an incredible place
That should not be dismissed

It was a large prison
Built in 1796
With no segregation
Everyone thrown in a mix

Men, Women & Children
Up to 5 in one cell
With only one candle
It couldn’t have gone well

A dark but fascinating history

Bert’s antsy to get inside!

So much Dublin history
You can see the allure
With all this information
Bert is loving this tour

Decommissioned as a prison
In 1924
Now open to the public
It’s a great place to explore!

Despite its brutal history
It is irrefutable
That the building is stunning!
And really quite beautiful

Gorgeous!

Gorgeous!

“Proclamation”

“Proclamation”

Across from the prison
You’ll find the “Proclamation”
A tribute to those executed
While fighting for their nation

Even though a solemn statue
It has a stunning design
And to those who have fallen
It is an amazing shrine

Memorial to Irish leaders who fought for independence

Although his time is up
Bert enjoyed the ‘clink’
Now it’s time to move on
Bert could use a drink…
