The Dôme des Invalides

Bert sees a building
With a great golden top
It’s the Dôme des Invalides
And it will be his next stop!

In 1677
Construction began
Completed in 1706
That’s quite a long span!

The building is pretty cool!

Napoleon I’s tomb

Napoleon I’s tomb

Inside you will find
Napoleon I’s tomb
It is so enormous
Hard to believe there is room!

The tomb itself
Was sculpted with grace
Carved from red quartzite
And sits on a granite base

The tomb is HUGE!

The tomb is HUGE!

Twelve “Victory” sculptures
Surround Napoleon’s remains
They were carved to symbolize
His many military campaigns

Alongside Napoleon
You will find a few more graves
Those of Generals & Marshals
Who fought for France so brave!

Such a BIG tomb for one person!
