Notre-Dame de Paris

Bert at Notre-Dame de Paris!

Bert at Notre-Dame de Paris!

Walking through the streets
Bert sees an amazing sight
It’s the Notre-Dame de Paris
And it reaches such great height!

“Our Lady of Paris”
Is what it means in French
Bert marvels at it’s beauty
From a nearby bench

Looking up from his seat
Bert loves the design
It’s French Gothic architecture
That is simply quite divine

Construction began
In 1163,
Then in 1345
It opened for all to see

Notre-Dame has ten bells
That range in various size
You can hear them ring each hour
As their sounds fill the skies

In the south tower
You’ll find the largest bell
It weighs 13 tons
And is called Emmanuel

Sundays in the Cathedral
You can attend a mass
Other days do a tour
And see the amazing stained glass

But Bert’s main goal
Is to climb up the tower
It’s a long way up!
He hopes he has the power

Bert also enjoys
Seeing the Gargoyle stones
They are impressive sculptures
With their black and gray tones

And sees it’s a long drop

From this height
You can see the whole city!
It’s definitely worth the climb
To view something so pretty
